Packing 101

Whether you’re packing for a weekend getaway or a month-long adventure, deciding what to take and what to leave behind can be a challenge.

You want to be prepared, but you want to avoid the burden of a heavy suitcase, never mind getting caught at the airport with extra luggage fees or looking like you just crawled out of the suitcase itself during your trip because all your clothes are a wrinkled mess.

Packing light is an art form, TRUST ME after 30 years of travel I can do a 4 week resort/cruise/destination with just carry on here are my favourite tips.

  1. 2 weeks before your vacation start putting items you THINK you will need in a pile beside your carryon bag.

  2. Choose items that you can mix and match to create multiple outfits

  3. Use a packing list, http://clairenewell.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/TBB_Packing_List-3.pdf

  4. No matter how long you are leaving for pack for 1 week https://foxnomad.com/2010/07/08/why-packing-for-2-weeks-is-no-different-than-packing-for-2-months/

  5. NO MORE THAN 3 SETS OF SHOES! Including the ones you are wearing. Depending on the itinerary normally all you need are shoes for touring, light flip flops for beach/pool, and heels for evening wear.

  6. Try to pack clothes that don’t wrinkle, I find rolling them helps and I do ALWAYS travel with an airport approved size bottle of Downey wrinkle release .

  7. Don't bring a blow dryer, most hotels provide them. Purchase a travel curling iron/straightener www.travelfashiongirl.com/best-travel-curling-iron/

  8. Purchase an E-Reader if you read a lot, I used to bring 7 or 8 novels with me on vacation…. Now I bring over 300 in a 1 ounce package
